Not too much news this month, as I haven't been terribly productive lately -- 
probably recovering from building the HOJ CD ROM 
(http://www.mindview.net/CDs/HOJ2/) (still making tweaks on the order-taking 
system, which was yet another valuable learning experience). We can now ship 
via Federal Express. 

Bill Venners and I are heading to New Zealand for a 3-week bicycle tour 
February 3, so not much will be happening in that period (especially email).

The UK Thinking in Java Hands-On Seminar will take place in London, Feb 26 - 
March 2. This will be taught by Jeremy Meyer, a long-time associate who has 
assisted me with a number of seminars and projects. See:

The next Enterprise Java seminar will take place March 19-23 in Emeryville, 
CA. This will cover EJBs, Servlets and JSPs. We're also holding one in Prague,

* New seminar: Art & Science of Web Design

Renowned designer and writer Daniel Will-Harris (who does my book, cover and 
CD designs) and I will be giving a 3-day seminar in Switzerland May 9-11 that 
combines guidelines and insights for designing web sites with an introduction 
to the basic technology driving the site, including simple CGI programming and 
communicating with databases. The seminar targets those who have some 
experience with creating web sites and a basic understanding of HTML.

The Objects & Patterns seminar is the most popular one we give; the next one 
is March 12-16 in San Diego, CA. We're also holding one in Prague, April 
23-27. Please note this is a more advanced seminar; you should have the 
equivalent of the Thinking in Java Hands-On Seminar before coming.

Along with Guido Van Rossum (Python's creator) I'll be giving the keynote 
address ("Why I Love Python") at the 9 Annual International Python Conference, 
as well as a tutorial on Jython.
